Barnsley House Wedding Photographs, Jenna and Evan’s Destination wedding to the Cotswolds, England

Today I have for you a wedding more English than an English thing, only with a bunch of American’s :) Jenna and Evan live in New York but decided they wanted to have a destination wedding and chose Barnsley House, near Cirencester in the Cotswolds, England. Just their closest family and friends joined them from the States to celebrate which made for a really intimate and special wedding, I can’t tell you how much of a privilege it felt to be a part of it. I may have got a little carried away while picking out photos for this post so prepare yourself for an epic blog post :)

I started the day at Barnsley House with Jenna, her best friends and the ladies of her family getting ready with the help of Antonia Krieger from Elle Au Nautrel. Evan was also getting ready at Barnsley House and so I was able to nip up to get some of him and his best man getting ready nearby. Both sides pretty calm and collected. They got married outside in the gardens at Barnsley House, they had an independent celebrant called Diana Saxby there to lead the ceremony. I personally love independent celebrants, they allow you to have the ceremony you want so it doesn’t revolve just around the legality of what you are doing. It allows you to have personal stories as part of your ceremony which makes it so much more special and unique to you.

The whole day was so lovely and relaxed. With just having 20ish people at the wedding meant that everyone got to spend quality time with each other and make the most of the beautiful surroundings of Barnsley House. I love small weddings, you get much more of a sense of how important everyone is to each other and that’s such a lovely thing to witness and to photograph. The team at Barnsley House are also pretty special, everyone there was so lovely to work with. My favourite part of the day was taking Jenna and Evan’s portraits, these guys needed no direction, their love for each other is so apparent that they make my job very easy indeed! I found it very funny when Jenna and Evan were saying how crazy it is that it’s still light til 10pm ish over here at this time of year, I’d never really thought of this being a strange thing (I love it!) but without these crazy hours we wouldn’t have been able to get the lovely evening golden sunshine photos that you’ll see at the end of the post that we took at about 9pm. These guys were so lucky with the weather, I can imagine all the jokes they must have heard about being mental getting married in England in June, it was bound to rain, but nope, sunshine all day long.
